June 22-28, 2019 River of Life Church hosted Hands of Hope 2019 in Portage, WI. 45 volunteers from 6 different churches came and supported members of River of Life Church in reaching out to the community of Portage to show just how much the love of Christ can help bring unity to a community. Over 4 days of service projects 29 projects were completed totaling nearly 1,200 hours worth of labor. Projects ranged from landscaping public and school parks along with private residences, painting local businesses and private residences, cleaning public areas such as the downtown and our levee walk, helping people with home tasks they could not do themselves and replacing a roof for a shelter in one of our larger parks for the City of Portage. The week ended with a block party that was hosted on Thursday night and even with the bad weather we had about 100 guests come and share in community with the mission teams and River of Life Church.
This year’s Hands of Hope partnered 7 churches with private residences, the City of Portage, the Portage School District and local businesses and organizations. Work was even done for one of our older local churches, St. John’s Episcopal. This event was truly a coming together of a community to bless those in the community through the love and unity found in Jesus Christ. River of Life Church would like to thank everyone who participated for making this great event what it was. Romans 15:13.
